about

Día de los Muertos: Nov. 1-2 each year during which people remember and celebrate deceased loved ones. As we near the end of the fourth year of a viral pandemic that's killed millions--and with WWIII seemingly imminent, if not already kicked off--it seemed like as good a time as any to consider human mortality and the celebration that this life is.

"Conspirituality" is from the very first time my wife and I recorded music together (neither of us are "musicians"). She was wielding the Moog Theremini and I was on the effects board while she played.

"Feculent Shoat" has some awesome guitar noise I've never previously created and I think it's pretty fun (and yes, I love Steve Albini).

"Where Have all the Olives Gone?" takes a chill groove and smothers it in confused concern about humanity's actions.

"Slightly Unrealistic Demands" is a drum synth + theremin experiment, with a couple of subtle salacious samples added. Yeah, it feels different than all of the other tracks and it maxes out at times...but I enjoyed making it, so take that!

"White Phosphorus' Red Glare" is my personal favorite of this album. You gotta listen to the whole thing to have the listening experience I intended (hey, at least I trimmed is down from the original 18-minute-long cut--this one is definitely better). Personally, I find a lot of meaning in the feel of this track as well as the title itself. Feel free to divine your own interpretations, but, come on, that title is an outstanding play on words, right?

Buy the album for the exclusive bonus track "Salted" (4:02), which is an alternative segment from the "Where Have all the Olives Gone?" recording session.

HEADS UP! I'm gonna explore some alternate guitar tuning soon. If I find one (or more) alt tuning that produces vibrations my brain digs, expect to hear that on the next album unless I get distracted and do something completely different.

"Conspirituality" features a special guest (my wife, Dian) on theremin! Everything else is me (aside from the samples in "Slightly Unrealistic Demands."
